Page Templates

A Page Template, is a pre defined page layout with set functionality in EpiServer. When you create a new page you wil usually (if there is a choice of more than one) be given a list of page templates to choose from. Here is a list of each page type and a general description of how and when to use each one.

Page templates fall into three distinct categories:

  • Content Pages (editorial, images etc.)
  • Containers (think of these as folders)
  • Functional (pages that don't show content, these just tell the site how to behave)
  • 99% of the time you will be creating content pages. Here is the main list. Some pages are "parent" pages and have child functionlaity, ex. the Interviews page Template which is used for showing a list of videos (known as Interviews).
