Danube Art Master 2024

Danube Art Master: Celebrating 20 Years of Creativity and Connection to the Danube!

In 2024, the Danube Art Master (DAM) Anniversary Exhibition will celebrate two decades of artistic expression and environmental awareness, bringing the beauty and significance of the Danube River to life through the creative works of young participants. The event will be part of the Standing Working Group meeting of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) and will take place in Bratislava. This milestone marks 20 years of uniting the community through art, reflecting the Danube's natural beauty and raising awareness of water issues across the region.

The open-air exhibition will run from June 20th to 26th, 2024, at the iconic Hviezdoslav Square in the heart of Bratislava's old town. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a diverse collection of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and multimedia installations, all inspired by the importance of protecting and preserving the Danube. Each piece will reflect the unique perspectives of participants from various countries within the Danube Basin, celebrating the river’s cultural and environmental significance.

This special 20th-anniversary event will offer an engaging opportunity for the public to connect with the message of Danube Art Master—celebrating the creativity of young people and their dedication to the future of this vital waterway. The exhibition will not only showcase the incredible talent of these young artists but will also highlight the evolution of awareness about water protection over the past two decades. Don’t miss this inspiring event that will unite the community in appreciation of the creative contributions from our young Danube Art Masters!

Special Performance by the Winners of Danube Art Master 2023
In addition to the exhibition, the winners of the Video-Teen category from the Danube Art Master 2023 will have a special opportunity to showcase their talents on an international stage. The winners – Maksim Ilić, Sara Škrijelj, Feđa Milojević, and Matija Stojanović – will be invited by the ICPDR to perform two live presentations of their award-winning piece, "Blue Danube – Our Aim."

These live performances will take place in Vienna, as Austria holds the presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) in 2024. The talented young artists will perform their work during two major events: the EUSDR Annual Forum on Thursday, June 20th, and the Austrian Danube Day on Friday, June 21st. Both performances will provide a platform for the winners to share their message of water conservation and their creative vision for the Danube’s future.

This exciting opportunity is made possible by the Austrian Presidency of the EU Danube Region Strategy, represented by the Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management, and the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, in cooperation with the City of Vienna. These performances will contribute to the broader discussion on protecting the Danube, inspiring audiences and encouraging public participation in safeguarding the future of the river.

We look forward to the Danube Art Master Anniversary Exhibition and the live performances in Vienna, celebrating the creativity, passion, and dedication of young artists throughout the Danube Basin. Mark your calendars for this extraordinary celebration of art, environment, and community!
