Successful finale of the DAM 2025 competition: a story from Bulgaria

The national phase of the Danube Art Master (DAM) 2025 competition has successfully concluded in Bulgaria, celebrating young people’s creativity and commitment to the future of the Danube River.

Organised by Global Water Partnership in Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), and coordinated nationally by GWP Bulgaria in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Water, the competition ran under the motto “Our Danube – Our Future”.

The Bulgarian national jury selected 14 outstanding works across different age categories, including artwork, photography and video. Winning entries were submitted to the international level, where young participants from across the Danube River Basin competed.

At the international stage, the artwork “With the Danube in Our Heart – Looking Towards the Future” by Marina Katsarska and Nikola Katsarski received second place in the 12–18 age category, highlighting the strong engagement and talent of Bulgarian youth.

Danube Art Master continues to be a powerful platform for raising awareness about water protection, encouraging environmental responsibility, and amplifying young voices in shaping a sustainable future for the Danube River.
