The first three teams in both age groups won outdoor adventure camping during the summer. Péter Kovács State Secretary for Water handed over the prizes.
The contest helps teachers in bringing up the River Danube closer to hearts and minds of young generation. "It raises environmental awareness and calls the attention to sustainable use of natural resources", said Dr. Jozsef Gayer, Chair of GWP Hungary.
The contest is based on a teaching kit called the "Danube Box". It runs in two age categories comprising three students in a team. The teams have to pass three online tests related to a wide array of questions on the Danube issues and submit a creative work.
The best seven teams in each category test their knowledge in the finale of the Danube Box contest.
Coca Cola, Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Human Resources supported the contest this year.
