The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is pleased to welcome Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, to the GWP as a Patron of the organisation.

GWP Romania was the first country to submit a report from their recent national consultation on water in the post-2015 agenda. A total of 29 country consultations are being organised in the first few months of 2014 as part of the GWP-OECD Global Dialogue project.

Country Water Partnerships organized the national consultations in Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia between 18-21 March 2014 in Sofia, Bucharest and Ljubljana while dates are pending for Poland.

The Global Water Partnership (GWP) announced the launch of its new 2014-2019 global strategy today.

A national consultation on Adaptation to Climate Change and Drought in Slovenia was organised on 6 February 2014 by GWP Slovenia and the Centre for Management of Drought in South-Eastern Europe. Over 40 participants attended the meeting at the Slovenian Environment Agency in Ljubljana.

Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre and GWP Ukraine organized National Dialogue on Drought Management on 10 December 2013 in Kiev.

As capacity-building support to its Partner organizations, GWP, together with the University of Dundee, will offer scholar-ships for 30 participants to undertake a module in International Water Law, in Dundee 9-20 June 2014.

Applications will be accepted from 20 November 2013 to 15 February 2014.

Decentralised small water retention measures are important sources of water during dry periods in Central and Eastern Europe, according to drought experts who met on 28-29 October in Warsaw, Poland. 

Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe is looking for a part time Administrative Assistant for its Regional Secretariat.

First workshop of the Integrated Drought Management Programme in Central and Eastern Europe was held on 15-16 October in Hodrusa Hamre.
