In the case of Tunisia the AIP-WACDEP-G is being implemented under the leadership of the national focal point, the General Directorate of Water Resources in the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries.
The project is supported by several institutional partners who were involved from the beginning such as the Ministry of environment, the Ministry of woman, family, childhood and seniors.
High-level representatives from Tunisia’s central government and stakeholders actively engaged on fruitful discussions on transformative change in gender equality in water and climate resilient policies.

The project has been tailored according to the Tunisian context, where needs were identified through conducting interviews with key stakeholders across different partners mainly from the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries to asset the level of integrating gender in national strategies and the institutional operation.
Following a deep analysis of the institutional structure, two core groups (national and local) were created to contribute to the different analysis, to the Gender action plan and to be capacitated on gender, climate finance etc.
Analysis have been set up to address recommendations on how institutional partners could enhance the gender status in water management and climate change resilience.

Over the course of the two-day workshop, attendees gained insight into the interconnections between gender and the governance of policies related to water resource management. The primary objective of the workshop was to facilitate the process of mapping institutions engaged in water-related domains and policies, as well as other relevant agencies and partners. Utilizing the mapping exercise as a foundation, participants conducted a SWOT analysis to assess the integration of gender considerations within these institutions.

They were also informed about legal advancements related to the gradual realization of the right to access water on international, regional, and Tunisian scales. Attendees expressed their approval of the initial draft of the gender reform guidelines, which were founded on a transformative approach suited for robust water policies. They engaged in a thorough discussion and enhancement of these guidelines by suggesting various measures and contributions. Through interactive presentations detailing the primary outcomes of the AIP WACDEP-G gender assessment and the subsequent reform recommendations, participants evaluated, provided feedback on, and proposed fresh initiatives aimed at the involvement of economic decision-makers.
