Governance

The Statutes of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) regulate the functions and organisation of the Partnership.

Governance Structure of GWP-C

The General Assembly

The General Assembly is made up of all GWP-C’s partners. The partners meet once a year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to make decisions on the organisation’s workplan and other business, to vote on resolutions and elect partners to the Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee

The GWP-C Steering Committee (SC) is made up of the Chair, Vice-Chair and 7 other partners. In addition to the 9 members of the SC, the GWP-C Network Officer from the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Organisation in Stockholm, Sweden and the GWP-C Host Institution representative serve as ex-officio members on the Committee.

Principles of equitable representation of gender; language, expertise in integrated water resources management (IWMR); community participation and other areas of relevance are all considered before the General Assembly elects a Steering Committee member.

The Secretariat

The GWP-C Secretariat is headquartered in Grenada where it is hosted by its partner, the Windward Islands Research and Education Foundation (WINDREF. The Secretariat is made up of a Regional Coordinator, Communications Officer and Programme Assistant.

The Host Institution

The Steering Committee (SC) selects the GWP-C Host Institution from applicants which may be partners. The Host Institution (HI) provides office accommodation, office equipment and materials, and support services for such period as it remains the Host Institution. The HI is accountable for the finances of the GWP-C and maintains the accounts. The HI is the GWP-C signatory on all financial and legal matters.
