Representatives from nineteen (19) member and associate member states of CARICOM gathered virtually and in-person for the Regional Consultation on the Draft Regional Action Framework for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).

Integrating hydro-climatic risk assessments, climate change adaptation strategies and machine learning fundamentals, as mechanisms to address the region’s water resource challenges, were areas presented during two-day workshop held at the Bay Gardens Hotel in St. Lucia.

Two representatives from the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean, joined the vibrant SIDS4 Conference in Antigua and Barbuda from May 27-30th, at the American University of Antigua (AUA). GWP-C’s team of Regional Coordinator Ms. Simone Lewis and Mr. Kerron Martinez, engaged actively throughout the conference advancing our mission of promoting sustainable water management practices with the context of Small Island Developing States.

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) is supporting the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) to shape the future of water management across the CARICOM Region. GWP-C is the consulting agency for the Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (GEF-IWEco) Project; one that is important to develop a comprehensive Regional Action Framework for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).

In an effort to address the growing global challenges surrounding water quality and conservation, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) pioneered a new approach to safeguard this essential resource. On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (UTC-4), GWP-C hosted a groundbreaking workshop titled “Advancing Water Quality through Blockchain Technology.”

In a collaborative effort to ensure the integrity and reliability of essential water infrastructure, GWP-C teamed up with Daniel and Daniel Engineering Inc. to conduct a comprehensive site inspection at the intake structure/dam and transmission/Distribution mains located in Mt. Granby, St. John. The seven-man technical team, assembled by Daniel and Daniel Engineering Inc., carried out the inspection under the expert guidance of retiree Michael “Freshy” Fleming.

The Global Water Partnership -Caribbean (GWP-c) hosted a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) for persons working in the Caribbean water sector on Thursday 16th November, 2023. The initiative was used to test and evaluate organizations’ response to a hypothetical scenario or a set of circumstances in a controlled and low-stress environment related to the water sector.

GWP-Caribbean will be hosting its 3rd Caribbean Science Symposium on Water (CSSW2025) in March 2025.

A draft Action Framework for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for the CARICOM Region was developed in 2022 under the GEF funded Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (IWEco) project.
