Two countries from the Caribbean region, Jamaica and Antigua were selected for a United Nations (UN) Water Resources Report which looks specifically at the application of integrated approaches to the development, management and use of water resources.

In light of the recent development of its Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) model in 2010, Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) has and continues to engage in a series of public education activities targeted at building awareness on rainwater harvesting as a means of water conservation.

Government Ministers with responsibility for water in the Caribbean are scheduled to meet at the 7th Annual High Level Session (HLS) Ministerial Forum on October 6th and 7th, 2011 in Guadeloupe.

The National Women’s Movement in Suriname through its Water and Sanitation Unit aims to implement an educational programme on “Water, Sanitation and Hygiene” for two elementary schools in the upper Suriname region.

The 3rd China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum was held in Trinidad on September 12th – 13th, 2011.

In May 2011, the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) signed a World Bank contract to produce their online training modules to assist small farmers to effect change against risks related to agricultural production in the Caribbean region.

In an effort to engage the youth and help them understand the value of access to potable water, the Grenada Community Development Agency (GRENCODA) held a four-day Student Assistance Programme (SAP) Camp for students between the ages of 12-16 years under the theme “Water a Critical Development Resource, Seriously Challenged.”

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) Secretariat had the unique experience of spending the day at the headquarters of its newest partner, the Toco Foundation on September 14^th, 2011.

Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) together with representatives from the Projects Unit of the National Institute of Higher Education Research, Science and Technology (NIHERST) had the opportunity to meet with two (2) Women’s Groups in rural Trinidad on October 21^st, 2011, to discuss a future renewable energy project to benefit their communities.

Caribbean Ministers with responsibility for water resources management, along with regional water managers and other experts were brought together to discuss “Water Management Financing in the Caribbean” at Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) and the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association’s (CWWA) 7th Annual High Level Session (HLS) on October 6th and 7th, 2011 in Guadeloupe.
