CARDI Partners with World Bank to Develop Agricultural Training Manuals for the Caribbean Region

In May 2011, the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) signed a World Bank contract to produce their online training modules to assist small farmers to effect change against risks related to agricultural production in the Caribbean region.

This work is part of a World Bank programme within the European Union (EU) funded All Agricultural Commodities Programme (ACP). The three modules for which CARDI is contracted are:

  1. Weather Risks
  2. Pest and Disaster Risks
  3. Food Safety

The first of these modules includes information on how to mitigate against risks associated with too much or too little water. The final drafts of all three modules were submitted to the World Bank by the August 31st, 2011 deadline date.

After review by the World Bank, the training modules will be disseminated to the Caribbean Farmers Network (CaFAN) before the end of 2011. The World Bank will then post the modules online for use by farmers worldwide.
