National Women’s Movement Works to Develop Educational Programme on Water and Sanitation in Suriname

The National Women’s Movement in Suriname through its Water and Sanitation Unit aims to implement an educational programme on “Water, Sanitation and Hygiene” for two elementary schools in the upper Suriname region.

Funding activities were recently organised to support the development of the programme by the National Women’s Movement’s network partner World Waternet with two elementary schools in the Netherlands through a charity walk to raise funds.

The purpose of the educational programme is to raise awareness among the students, so that they understand the critical importance of water, sanitation and hygiene. The project is scheduled to be implemented in the upcoming school year at the two designated schools in the Suriname Interior.
