It is with great shock and a very heavy heart that Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) shares the news of the passing of its former Chair, Ms. Judy Daniel.
Apart from serving selflessly as a former GWP-C Chair and Steering Committee member, Judy was a member of our existing Technical Committee, a former Global Water Partnership (GWP) Chair of Regional Chairs and a long-standing Partner.
We have undoubtedly lost one of our greats. Her brilliance, invaluable leadership, service, passion and commitment to promoting GWP-C’s vision of a water secure Caribbean was unwavering.
Judy Daniel also made stellar contributions to the Caribbean region. She was well-known as an Attorney-at-Law and Environmental Manager with over thirty (30) years of experience in the areas of policy and institutional development, natural resources and environmental planning and management, multilateral agreements and negotiations, water resources, energy, legislative drafting, civil litigation, environmental impact assessments, training, and regional and international legal matters. Her unique combination of strong legal and technical skills always gave her the ability to produce workable solutions.

According to Mr. Trevor Thompson, GWP-C Chair "Judy was a true Caribbean patriot; a champion for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and the Environment. Her passion for what she was committed to was infectious, which resulted in her labouring to lay the foundation so that many of our islands can have IWRM Plans, National Water Policies and the OECS having a Model Water Legislation that many are building upon. Judy has left us a legacy of love for people, perseverance in the face of adversity and fighting with all your strength until the task is finished. She died on the battlefield fighting for Caribbean Water Security. Her legacy will be an inspiration to many that will follow in her footsteps and stand upon her shoulders in the years to come. Godspeed Judy. Your task is over. Rest well.”
Leaving a legacy is something few people are able to do. GWP-C salutes a true leader and cherished colleague. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family.
From the Chair, Steering Committee, Regional Coordinator and Secretariat of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C).
