The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) wishes to again acknowledge that the WWD 2022 Caribbean Groundwater TikTok Challenge was done in collaboration with Caribbean WaterNet (Cap-Net), the Caribbean Environment Programme and the Cartagena Convention Secretariat, the Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (IWEco Project), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). GWP-C thanks these organisations for their support and contributions to some of the awards in the competition.

World Water Day (WWD) is a United Nations observance day celebrated every year on 22nd March. The WWD 2022 theme is “Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible.”
The reality is that groundwater (invisible) has a significant (visible) impact everywhere, particularly when we consider that this natural resource is reliable and contributes to meeting water supply needs of an increasing population (E.g. provision of drinking water in cities and rural areas, irrigation of crops to grow our food, industry processes, a source of recharge for rivers etc.).
Groundwater is a vital water supply for humanity yet many persons (especially those who are not part of water/environmental related sectors) may not understand what it is and its importance.
Take the #WWD2022CaribbeanGroundwater TikTok Challenge
Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) in collaboration with Caribbean WaterNet (Cap-Net), the Caribbean Environment Programme (CEP) and the Cartagena Convention Secretariat, the Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (IWEco Project), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) – challenge you to take the Caribbean Groundwater TikTok Challenge for World Water Day (WWD) 2022.
Entry into the competition will not only build awareness on groundwater and its importance but participants can win great US$ cash prizes.
THE RULES AND HOW TO ENTER
- You must be a Caribbean national, residing in the Caribbean region to enter.
- Create a TikTok (minimum 2 minutes long or 3 minutes maximum) that answers the question: What is groundwater and why is it so important?
- Entrants are encouraged to be as creative as possible in answering the Challenge question i.e. the video could be a creative explanation, it can be in the form of a song, dance, comedy etc. Surprise us!
- You must enter using a TikTok account and entrants must tag @gwpcaribbean on TikTok and use the hashtag #WWD2022CaribbeanGroundwater for your video to qualify for the Challenge.
- You must follow @gwpcaribbean on TikTok.
- All submitted TikTok videos will be posted on GWP-C’s TikTok account.
- The Challenge runs from March 2nd - 21st, 2021 (midnight AST).
