Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia, Water Stewardship Indonesia, and Safe Water Gardens and some other partners have implemented Model Village Program (MVP) in 3 Villages of Bintan Island (Busung, Kuala Sempang, Pengujan). The project include the installation of 48 SWG units five water reservoirs, 51 kitchen sinks, 46 toilets, and 58 Nazava filters. Two hundred and sixteen residents from 58 heads of households have been positively affected by this program, as well as the emergence of 13 new micro businesses. Seeing the success story of this project, Coca Cola Euro Pacific (CCEP) Is keen to collaborate.
Having the largest markets in the region, CCEP Indonesia has put their commitment to reduce water consumption and to protect water sources for future generation. This will be solved through 100% replenishment and regenerative water use program. The discussion was made for the water replenishment program which include WASH access and watershed protection or restoration, preceded by assessment of water challenges.
A follow-up meeting was held on 22 August 2023 to learn more about the process and how we can moving forward. The initial project or a pilot at selected village is expected to be implemented on the last quarter of 2023, whilst the full project is planned for 2024-2025 financial year. The initial team consisting of GWP-SEA, WSI, and Safe Water Gardens will collaborate with another partners to ensure sufficient project deliverable and to keep up with Volumetric Water Benefit Accounting (VWBA) reporting method.
