The workshop aims to share the WASH advocacy mobilization experiences of African collectives / NGOs; strengthen the advocacy and capacities of collectives / NGOs on the common strategic challenges for the WASH sector (Sustainable Development Goals -SDGs-, funding for the WASH sector -focus on the April 2017 high-level meetings of the " Sanitation and Water for All "-, climate, etc., and to prepare for the launch of the 2nd phase of the project "Water and Sanitation for All" (WSA2): for a strong and listened to civil society in West Africa ".
This 6th workshop of exchanges and strengthening the capacities of the African collectives of the civil society of the sector Water, Sanitation and Hygiene WASH is meant to reinforce the action of the civil society in its various dimensions of mobilization. This workshop takes place in a context where many of the countries represented are implementing an emergency program for the access to safe drinking water for all, such as the 2021 Emergency Program in Benin, the 2020 Emergency Plan in Burkina Faso.
For 6 years, the group has been meeting in one of the partner countries to share and discuss its progress and challenges. Thus, the project strengthened the voice and influence of civil society in the 8 countries.
This meeting was organized by CWP Benin, which invited the Minister in charge of Water at the Closing Ceremony. The participants expressed their feeling of joy since this was the first time in 6 years that a Minister has honoured their session by his presence. The results of the workshop and the recommendations were delivered to the Minister who congratulated them and made a firm commitment to take their concerns into account and to endorse those of the civil society group in the Water and Sanitation sector in Benin.
