MOU SIGNED BETWEEN THE OFFICE FRANCO-QUEBECOIS POUR LA JEUNESSE (OFQJ) AND GLOBAL WATER PARTNERSHIP (GWP)

The Paris Climate Conference will take place in Paris in December 2015 (COP21). Governments, particularly sensitive to environmental and climate issues, are expected to commit the fate of the planet during the COP21.

The Minister of the City, Youth and Sports, Mr Patrick KANNER, also co-chairman of the board of OFQJ is actively acting to ensure that youth is also engaged in public policy for sustainable development.

OFQJ and GWP have partnered to pilot the project "The Francophone Youth for Water", supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development. This project involves many young water experts from 9 countries on 4 continents who will be active in international main agenda on environmental issues.

OFQJ and GWP and are aiming at writing a White Paper on the recommendations of the Francophone youth which will be sent to world decision-makers, in view of the COP21.

To achieve these objectives, the OFQJ and GWPO can also count on the International Organization of the Francophonie, the International Secretariat for Water and the French Water Partnership.

The first stage of the project was launched at the 7th World Water Forum on April 13, 2015 in South Korea.

Mr Rudolph Cleveringa, Executive Secretary of GWP and Mr. Pascal BONNETAIN, Secretary General of the OFQJ will formalize their partnership in France on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 1 PM in the presence of the Minister of the City, Youth and Sports, Mr Patrick KANNER to promote "The Francophone Youth for Water".
