Niger, Mekrou 2 Project to focus on field actions for the populations

The Country Water Partnership of Niger together with the Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation through the Permanent Secretariat for IWRM (SP/PANGIRE), the Directorate General of Water Resources (DGRE) by Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) have submitted a project proposal “Water for growth and poverty reduction in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger” or "Mekrou Project Phase 2 - NIGER".

It is the continuation of the first phase of the same project implemented from January 2014 to December 2017 in the whole sub basin in the three countries in Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger.
A regional team including the Executive Secretary, the communication and knowledge manager and the consultant have participated in a mini workshop of stakeholders held in Niamey on 18 November 2019. The aim was for the stakeholders to take ownership of the draft project documents, assess their content and formulate observations, comments and recommendations to improve their quality in order to have final documents that have been submitted to the EU delegation in Niamey.
