Contacts have been established with all the 15 ECOWAS countries and according to availabilities priority countries drawn and targeted for the reporting action.
The Gambia is among the priority countries where the first reporting cycle on SDG6.5.1 2 indicators took place in 2017 and established a global baseline. This second round of reporting will help to gather information on the progress on IWRM under Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, target 6.5 in accordance with global indicator 6.5.1. It will also contribute to the UN-Water SDG 6 Integrated Monitoring initiative GEMI.
The Gambia Country Water Partnership and the National IWRM Focal point, Department of Water Resources, Ministry of Water Resources, with a facilitator will coordinate the Data Collection exercise under the supervision of GCWP Steering Committee and a Task force.
In addition, Momodou BE Njie, the Executive Secretary took part in an orientation workshop for the establishment of an Intergovernmental Hydrology Programme (IHP) organised by UNESCO Gambia National Office and Hydrology Unit, Department of Water Resources. Gambia Country Water Partnership is nominated to serve as a member of the Executive Committee as a Civil Society Organization promoting Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the country.
