Opening the session, Mr. Daouda TRAORE, Deputy National Director of Hydraulics, emphasized: “This workshop marks a decisive step in modernizing our alert system. The SAPCI Mali platform is a tool that will enable our technical services to better anticipate risks and protect populations.”

Highlighting the commitment of CWP Mali, Mr. Navon CISSE, Chair of the Country Water Partnership (CWP Mali), stressed the importance of national ownership: “The success of this initiative depends on everyone’s commitment. PNE Mali stands alongside institutions and communities to ensure that this platform becomes an instrument of resilience and solidarity in the face of floods.”
Mr. Sidi COULIBALY, Acting Executive Secretary of GWP-WA, placed the initiative in a regional perspective: “I would like to commend the commitment of Malian actors and our technical and financial partners. Together, we demonstrate that West Africa can build sustainable solutions adapted to its realities.”

The technical training on December 15 brought together two staff members from the National Directorate of Hydraulics (DNH), two from Mali-Météo, and two from the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC).
These six experts form the technical core responsible for mastering the SAPCI Mali platform to ensure its integration into national monitoring and alert systems.

A Practical Training
The day was devoted to presentations, hands-on exercises, and interactive discussions. Participants were able to test the platform in real conditions and prepare for the official launch ceremony scheduled for December 16.
Towards Greater Resilience
This session represents a major step forward for Mali in the fight against flood risks. By equipping national institutions with modern and accessible tools, the project contributes to strengthening community resilience and consolidating regional cooperation in climate risk management.
