The workshop was facilitated by the Climate Analytics (CA) team. It was attended by 35 people (17 women) including the CA, strategic actors at the level of ministries (including the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development ; the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries ; the Ministry of Energy ; the Ministry of Water and Mines ; the Ministry of Social Affairs and Microfinance ; the Ministry of Development and Coordination of Government Action ; the Ministry of Culture, Handicrafts and Tourism ; the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport ; the Ministry of Health ; NGO leaders ; actors from the CWP; the ANCB ; members of women producers’ unions and resource persons.
Participants were introduced the various phases that allowed the elaboration and validation of the main lines of the implementation document of the Lima Agreement to the dissemination of the document.
The participants’ contributions highlighted the need to ensure consistency between the Lima Agreement implementation document and existing documents and conventions and to add a dedicated section on the diagnosis of gender inequalities and the situation of women in Benin rather than integrating it into the introduction.
The main recommendations of the workshop include organising a restricted session with the DGEC to validate the logical framework; widening the participation to stakeholders from grassroots farmers' organisations who do not speak French; specifying the nature of the document (operational or strategic to avoid confusion); adopting the NAPA approach as a guide in the elaboration of the Lima Agreement implementation document.
The Benin WACDEP-G team is one of the key actors in the process.
