The workshop was attended by about fifty participants from the central and deconcentrated public administration, the National Assembly, the Territorial Communities, the Technical and Financial Partners, notably the GEF, Research Institutes, NGOs and Associations.
Participants recommended to the VBA and the Volta Basin States to ensure that all appropriate measures are taken to eradicate the adverse transboundary effects of gold washing on water quality, quantity and the environment; and to consider sustainable mechanisms for financing compensation and restorations for significant transboundary damage.
