This workshop is part of the implementation of the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP), which aims to (i) integrate water security and climate resilience into development planning and decision-making processes; (ii) strengthen countries' resilience to climate change.
The workshop contributed to a better inform water sector stakeholders on the NAP development process. Specifically, participants learned about the Benin NAP guidelines, the level of implementation of the NAP process, the level of integration of the water sector into the implementation of the NAP development process.
The proceedings focused on the presentation of communications on: i) the guidelines of the NAP; ii) the level of implementation of the Benin NAP; and iii) hydrometeorological risks and integrated water resources management in the Ouémé River basin.
Several recommendations came out inviting the National Fund for Environment and Climate (FNEC) to continue communications on funding mechanisms; informing participants of the workshop to participate in the webinars. Recommendations included also a call to popularize the results of the vulnerability study for inclusion in local climate risk planning and management documents, and to develop a synergy of action between the different projects.
