ECOWAS/WRMC coordinates WA towards WWF9

The 9th World Water Forum (WWF9) which is being held in Dakar from 22 to 27 March 2021 is an event for Africa and particularly the West African region. In order to contribute to a good preparation and participation of the region into the Forum, major regional institutional actors in Ouagadougou are working together to better coordinate the participation process of the region.

The ECOWAS Water Resources Management Center (WRMC) is trying to bring together regional institutions based in Ouagadougou to have a common voice and get ready for their participation in the Forum (WWF9).

Regional organizations including GWP-WA, IUCN-PACO, UEMOA, VBA, CILSS, WRMC have met to exchange on activities included in their 2020 work plans preparing them for Dakar2021 Forum. A first meeting was held on 3 February 2020 at UEMOA followed by a second one on 11 February at GWP-WA. A 3rd meeting is planned at GWP-WA meeting room on 11 March 2020.

The number of organizations is expected to be extended as the process gets stronger and better defined.
