The meeting was attended by all the members of the SC except the representatives of the International Institute of Engineering, Water and Environment (2IE), who is one of the Observer members of the SC, as well as that of Gambia, as one of the representatives of the Partner States.
Overally, the virtual meeting allowed the SC members to take note of:
- Recent information about the GWP-WA Chair's activities and perspectives.
- Main results issued from the implementation of the GWP-WA 2022 Work Plan and Budget.
- The GWP-WA 2023-2025 Work Programme and the 2023 Work Plan and Budget.
- News from the GWP Global Network and the preparatory process for the 2023 UN Water Conference and prospects.
- Proposals for dates and venues of GWP-WA statutory meetings for the year 2023.
The SC members unanimously adopted the documents presented to them and urged the Chair and Secretariat to better communicate, widen collaboration to all basin organisations in the region, close ties and discuss with UEMOA and ECOWAS on 2023 activities joint implementation, support the preparation of the region for the 2023 conference in New York.
The SC members also commended the GWP-WA Chair, Mr. Abdoulaye SENE, for his commitment and the Executive Secretariat for the work done.
