GWP-WA welcomes its new Executive Secretary: Mr. Amadou Lamine NDIAYE

The Assembly of Partners of the Global Water Partnership – West Africa (GWP-WA) has officially confirmed the appointment of Mr. Amadou Lamine NDIAYE as Executive Secretary, marking a significant milestone for governance and regional dynamics in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).

An experienced leader serving the Region

Mr. NDIAYE, a Senegalese national, brings over 30 years of experience in environment, sustainable development, and IWRM. He has held strategic positions, including:

  • Secretary General of OMVS (2023–2024), where he coordinated administrative and technical activities.
  • Director of Environment and Sustainable Development at OMVS (2013–2022), leading major programs on environmental protection, climate change, sustainable development and transboundary cooperation.

He is a recognized expert in hydro-diplomacy, resource mobilization, and regional project management.

Amadou Lamine NdiayeHolder of a Ph.D. in Geography (Cheikh Anta Diop University, Dakar), Mr. NDIAYE has managed large-scale projects funded by bilateral and multilateral international partners. He is also a Knight of the National Order of Merit of Senegal.

Assuming Office in January 2026

The official installation ceremony for Mr. NDIAYE is scheduled for January 2026. This event will reaffirm GWP-WA’s commitment to strengthening regional water governance and mobilizing stakeholders to address water security and sustainable development challenges.

In his new role, Mr. NDIAYE is committed to:

  • Strengthening governance and IWRM in West Africa;
  • Mobilizing resources and strategic partnerships;
  • Accelerating the implementation of water-related Sustainable Development Goals.
