The action in Burkina aimed at "Promoting innovative drought resilience practices through the establishment of a multifunctional agroforestry park". The follow up visit noticed that arrangements are made by the beneficiaries to sustain the action.
The fertility of the soil through the evolution of the topsoil grew up from 5 cm in 2016 to 20 - 30 cm today. There is also a resumption of biological fertility of the soil seen through the formation of termite mounds. The beneficiaries have planted new trees and are totally committed to dispose of the stony beads in the resistant erosive zones.
The President of the Kolgweogo group running this action, Mr. COMPAORE Bila dit Moussa said that they will replicate the action in 2019 since they have acquired with this project some knowledge that needs to be used to move forwards. He told the GWP WA and CWP Burkina executive secretariats’ team that their group is revitalized any time when an external eye comes to see what they are doing. “We welcome the technical support that allows corrections to be made to achieve long-term results. When you have a know-how, which is not adapted to improve, then it is not useful”, Mr. Compaoré added.
