The meeting was presided by the mayor of the rural commune of Saponé, Mr. Abdoulaye COMPAORE, assisted by his two deputies Mr. Jean Christophe ROUAMBA and Mr. Boukary OUEDRAOGO.
The project was officially introduced to the association Nongtaaba/Jeune La Touma of KOANKIN (selected beneficiary) and to all other stakeholders. In his opening speech, Mr. COMPAORE congratulated the CWP Burkina and GWP-WA for the initiative that supports his municipality, mainly about the employability of young people and the adaptation of market gardening production to climate change. He said that he was available to support the proper implementation of the project's actions in his commune.
More than fifty people, including 15 women, all from the Nongtaaba/Jeune La Touma association in KOANKIN, made the trip to Sapone, which testifies the commitment and mobilization of the project's beneficiaries. During the two-day workshop, participants were introduced to climate change, adaptation strategies to climate change in agriculture, and municipal policy for mobilizing young people for water. This was also an opportunity for the trainers to assess the level of knowledge of the beneficiaries on climate change using an adapted questionnaire. The modalities and strategies for implementing the project were defined by clarifying the technical - financial - communication - monitoring aspects of the activities, which led to the identification capacity building needs during the project period.
A joint CWP Burkina-GWP WA mission was conducted on September 10, to discuss and confirm the pre-selected beneficiary association for the implementation of the youth climate action focused #TonFuturTonClimat pilot project.
#TonFuturTonClimat is a project funded by the government of Quebec, GWP and SIE and implemented by GWP WA, SIE,CWPs of Burkina and Benin and Eau Vive Togo.
