In Burkina Faso, water for and training of managers on the Komki Ipala project site
The Country Water Partnership of Burkina Faso has technically supervised the borehole to ensure the conformity of the works executed in accordance with the requests. The event took place on 27 January 2022 during a monitoring mission by the project team. The aim was to monitor and control the installation of the borehole, the equipment, and the connection within the agroforestry park of the Komki-Ipala koglweogo association.
The 6m3 borehole was equipped with a 4m3 immersed solar pump and a photovoltaic field in addition to a 5m3 capacity poly tank on a metal support.
Pending provisional acceptance, on 28 January 2022, the company ETES (which installed the borehole) has trained four of the beneficiaries in the use of the system. The aim is to strengthen the managers' capacities in terms of water management and the maintenance of the equipment and infrastructure of the perimeter.
In Benin, experimenting the composting
The communal union of market gardeners' cooperatives (UcoopMA) provided young people trained in composting with boards. For 8 weeks, these young people applied their products to lettuce and greater nightshade. The result is very satisfactory, and the next step will be to take advantage of local communication media to popularize the available information. Thus, it is planned to broadcast on the local radio station to talk about their products to the population, particularly the agricultural population, in the presence of the UcoopMA Chair as a witness.
In Togo, a series of ongoing and future activities
The activities continued with the identification of the needs of youth and women's groups, which led to the development of a support plan for these groups. The support plan includes, among other things, training sessions, the purchase of agricultural equipment, negotiation, the setting up of a space for the sale of agroecological products in the equipment, and negotiations with certain digital agri-food platforms to make producers and their products known.
During the month of December 2021, a resource person was identified for the elaboration of an agroecology education manual at primary level. A content proposal was made and submitted to the actors of the education sector who made remarks and recommendations. Thus, the drafting of the manual is still in progress following the prescriptions of the education stakeholders. The role of the consultant is to capitalize on existing documents in the field of agroecology training and to propose a manual that is understandable for children.
