Mali, discussions with target groups for better wastewater management

Mali CWP had discussions with various stakeholders including dyers, artisanal and industrial tanners, slaughterhouses, market gardeners, gravel and sand extractors, gold panners and fishermen, technical services, the University, NGOs and the media for a better wastewater management in order to improve water quality in the Niger River.

The event was held from 18 to 20 September at the headquarters of the National Coordination of Natural Resource Users of the Niger Basin in Mali.

The aim of the meeting was to share with the target groups the results of the latest measurements of pollution parameters carried out on the Niger River, to promote greater awareness among the target groups (dyers, tanners, market gardeners, slaughterhouses and drains) of the negative effects of their activities on the river ecosystem and also how to improve their wastewater management capacities.
