Mali media in IWRM, climate change, gold panning and installation of dredges on watercourses

Wetlands International held the "Workshop for the production by media men and women of written, radio and television press articles on IWRM, climate change, gold panning and the installation of dredges on rivers" on Monday, August 6, 2018 in Sélingué, Kangare district.

The five-day workshop brought together 23 media professionals from Mali and Guinea Conakry, representatives of Wetlands International, the IWRM/DNH unit represented by the CWP-Mali communication officer. The opening ceremony was marked by three speeches, namely that of Mr Mohamed Garyane, Programme Officer of Wetlands International, followed by a welcome by the Mayor of the rural commune of Baya, Magatte N'Diaye. Finally, the opening speech of the sub-prefect of the Kangaré district.

The workshop aimed to encourage media professionals to produce written, radio and television press articles on IWRM, climate change, gold panning and installation of dredges on rivers in order to bring about behavioural changes for all IWRM and Guinea stakeholders.

It should be noted that the workshop is part of the implementation of the BAMGIRE programme financially supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
