The 2nd meeting held on 12 June 2023 provided an opportunity to review the state of implementation of priority actions in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger. Unfortunately, the agency has not been operational since its establishment because it had not been able to implement its initial roadmap validated during the first session of the members of the Council of the Water Agency for the Mekrou sub-basin and its area of influence in Niger.
The chair of Council, the Mayor of Kirtachi, Mr. Timi Djibo called for more action from the Ministry to activate the Council. He thanked the project partners and urged the council members to pursue action in their respective Water user associations and Local water committees for strengthening IWRM implementation.
