The activity facilitated by the Executive Secretariat of CWP Burkina in collaboration with the local environmental department took place from 06 to 08 February 2023.
The participants in general expressed their great satisfaction for this training which "allowed them to strengthen their knowledge on the animation of their association and also on how to keep the accounts of their association from now on". According to the Executive Secretary of CWP Burkina, Mrs. Sylviane YAMEOGO, the participants expressed the need for another training session on the setting up of projects because, according to them, "it is financing that is lacking to sustain the various activities".
A second training on composting was held on Wednesday 15 February 2023 in Komki Ipala targeting a selected group inside the Kolweogo association beneficiary of the project. This capacity building has created local skills capable of promoting massive and accelerated production of organic manure in order to increase agricultural yields while preserving the environment. About 30 participants took part in the training. Turning sessions and 100 kg of compost produced by the beneficiaries are planned.
The training was followed on February 16 by a public debate targeting school children. This conference-debate in the open air in the courtyard of the departmental high school of the rural commune of Komki Ipala, was an opportunity to raise awareness among high school students on climate change by listing the causes and consequences of these changes, and to learn about and master the main means of fighting against this phenomenon. The discussions focused on appropriate solutions for the protection and safeguarding of the environment.
These activities took place within the framework of the implementation of the #YourFutureYourClimate project financed by the Government of Quebec, the GWPO, the SDC and the Picardie Artois Water Agency. The International Secretariat for Water and the Global Water Partnership West Africa facilitate the regional coordination of this project.
