The first phase has just ended, and a second phase is being finalized for implementation.
In Burkina Faso, the project has supported the Sidwaya association in the village of Ramitenga to equip, manage a 1,5 ha for growing crops during the dry season. Some beneficiaries give their feeling:
“My name is TIEMTORE Saïdou. I am a member of the Sidwaya association of Ramitenga. I am happy that this project allowed me to be trained and learned about the best production techniques as well as the advantage of using compost instead of chemical fertilizers. Before, I was unaware of the measures to be taken for the use of phytosanitary products as well as the risks to my health and the environment. Now, I know how to better manage these products and how to package them. The project provided us with some equipment and the installation of this perimeter is encouraging for us. Our accessibility to water has improved and we can produce as much as we can, and this will contribute to reducing poverty in our community”.
“I am TIEMTORE Moumouni, I am the president of the Sidwaya Association. I received a lot of training that I needed to carry out my responsibility within our association. The project gave us new ideas for our functioning and our management. Previously, during the dry season, we used to go to the dam banks to do market gardening to meet our needs. But access to these banks was regulated and limited. At a certain point, there was no longer enough water for production. Now, we can produce on this perimeter during the dry period and this is improving our incomes and living conditions as well.”
