The field mission took place in two phases: a field monitoring phase to exchange with the various stakeholders and a discussion session with the JVE implementing team on the field mission and the implementation of project activities in Togo.
The GWP-WA team met with the traditional authorities and local elected officials of Grand Kloto (the Queen Mother of Agou and her notables, the Chief of the Canton of Agome-Yoh Togbui Tsaly XI, the Secretary General of the Prefecture of Kloto and the Mayor of the commune of Kpélé 1). These stakeholders explained the different actions they were carrying out with JVE within the framework of the project, notably the sensitisation of young people, local authorities and elected representatives, the difficulties encountered and expressed some concerns. The Queen Mother wished that young people be supported to form cooperatives to cultivate the land and that women be accompanied to carry out income-generating activities (IGA). The field visit continued with the TFTC2 beneficiaries who put into practice what they had learned during the training that took place in March 2022. These include the production of liquid fertiliser, ash broth and Bokashi. According to the two beneficiaries, a total of about 5 tons of Bokashi and 50 liters of ash broth were produced.
The monitoring mission ended with a debriefing and recommendations to JVE for further activities.
The mission has assessed the level of implementation of the project, collected the impressions of the partners and beneficiaries on the project and on the results obtained from the implementation of the project.
The mission recommended among other things to:
- Develop a roadmap for the finalisation of the agroecology course manual at primary level by 15 August 2022.
- Share with GWP-WA the technical sheets on the best agroecological practices identified during the baseline study on the agroecological situation in the TFTC 2 Project area.
- Develop the monitoring sheet for the project indicators in the field.
- Strengthen the monitoring and post-training mechanism for producers by increasing the frequency of monitoring visits to producers and ensuring that the project monitoring sheets are filled in.
- Work towards making the organic fertiliser production centre functional by the end of September 2022.
- Work towards making the agroecological transition monitoring committee in Grand Kloto operational by also strengthening advocacy for the formalisation of the multi-stakeholder agroecological transition monitoring committee in Grand Kloto.
Take advantage of the Agro-Bio-Culture Festival (ABC) to proceed with the handing over of equipment to the various beneficiaries while involving the local authorities of the project intervention zone
