The village of RAMITENGA in the rural commune of LOUMBILA is benefiting from the support of the TonFuturTonClimat project to optimise the use of water in agriculture and develop renewable energies for the benefit of a youth association in the Grand Ouaga region of Burkina Faso.
This initiative aims to increase the resilience of young people to climate change issues through the use of water-efficient systems powered by renewable energy and is meant to help develop the employability of rural youth and strengthen their adaptation and project management skills.
A system for autonomous and efficient natural resource management is being set up to increase not only agricultural productivity but also to reduce poverty through income generation. A series of relevant actions have been programmed to rehabilitate and extend the irrigated area of about 2 hectares.
The field visit was an opportunity to donate the necessary equipment to the beneficiaries for the proper implementation of the project, to participate in one of the training sessions and to exchange with the beneficiaries on possible difficulties in the proper implementation of the project. The team noted with satisfaction that work was progressing on the site, demonstrating the enthusiasm of the beneficiaries for the project.
During the training session organized by the MANEGBZANGA association of the municipality of Loumbila, the team noted that the beneficiaries already had some knowledge of the cultivation and maintenance techniques of the plants chosen for the implementation of the project. The training session became an exchange during which both parties learned from each other.
