As part of the initiative's start-up activities, a kick-off meeting was held on 28 and 29 November 2017 in Ouagadougou.
The first day of the meeting saw the participation of about twenty young people from different backgrounds, made up of several youth associations working on water and sanitation issues, SDGs, sustainable development; the project's country focal points (CWP-Burkina, CWP-Benin, Eau Vive Togo), GWP/WA coordination team and representatives of the ISW.
These young actors involved in climate change adaptation also received information on the initiative and the fields of intervention of the youth networks who attended the meeting. #TonFuturTonClimat is focusing on the implementation of three pilot projects in Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo by youth groups and association with the national coordination of CWP and Eau Vive.
Planned over two (2) years, the initiatives relate to: i) support the restoration of ecosystems at the head source of the Mekrou River basin and environmental education in Benin; ii) support young people for the protection of the Environment, Water and Soils: to combine young people's IGAs with protection in Togo and, iii) the optimization of water use in agriculture and the valorization of renewable energies for the benefit of an environmental youth association in Burkina Faso.
A Smaller group, composed of focal points at the ISW, GWP/WA, Benin, Burkina Faso and Eau Vive Internationale in Togo, exchange views on technical actions to be carried out, capitalization actions, the financial and technical reporting process and the implementation strategy.
