WACDEP-G is promoting Gender Transformative Approach in Benin

The Benin WACDEP-G team together with the CWP hold on 7 December 2021 a workshop to validate the report on the development of a shared vision on gender transformative approach in Benin. The event took place in Grand Popo with main partners including the Directorate general of environment and climate (DGEC), the FNEC, the NDA, focal points of various ministries, CSOs in gender promotion and consultants.

The study document on "Development of a shared vision for gender transformative, systemic structural and institutional improvement of decision-making processes for water security investments and climate change resilient development” was amended and considered validated after amendments were integrated.

Forty-six (46) participants took part in the national validation workshop representing the Ministry of Living Environment and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Water and Mines, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Decentralization and Local Authorities, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Microfinance, the National Institute for Women, the Ministry of State in charge of Development and Coordination of Government Action, the Gender and Social Protection Technical Group, Women's associations and associations of disabled people, NGOs for the promotion of gender, Youth associations.

This activity is part of a whole package of gender related activities carried out as part of the implementation of the AIP WACDEP-G programme in Benin and West Africa. GWP-WA was represented at the event by Sid COULIBALY, communication, and knowledge manager.
