Mr. Kaboré Kassoum, Prefect of Saaba promised the support of the prefecture to the water museum and invited the partners to support the structure which needs to be secured with a fence.
The Director of the museum, Mr. Alassane Samoura, explained the philosophy behind his action. "One always comes out of the water museum with new knowledge and positive impacts for behavioural change," he said. "It is not because we don't have financial support for an activity that we should give up," he explained. He added that he would fight to make this museum a World Museum where each nation on earth has its water symbol and symbolism shown.
The Water Museum is an individual initiative of its founder, Mr. Alassane SAMOURA to fill in the gap he had noticed in the transmission of the water heritage. "Water cannot be a source of life without its tangible and intangible legacy", he said.
Global Water Partnership West Africa - GWP-WA has been supporting the water museum since its creation in 2005.
