Dr. Ehui Bruno, welcome participants on behalf of the chair of the CWP followed the speech of Mr. Manouan Etienne, representing the Minister of Water and Forests.
Four communications were delivered followed by exchanges during which participants formulated some recommendations.
Addressing to public authorities (Ministries), it was recommended that in order to effectively combat climate change through nature-based water solutions, given the level of drastic destruction of vegetation cover, relevant ministries take measures to protect existing forests and also measures to promote reforestation.
For efficient water resource management, the workshop recommended that all water-using sectors promote the reuse and recycling of wastewater for domestic, commercial, agricultural and industrial purposes,
Addressing to the CWP, the recommendations included that in order to save water, that awareness projects be developed and implemented for the adoption of eco-actions in households, administrations and industries. Rainwater harvesting systems for agriculture, household activities, car washes should be promoted, and awareness actions carried appropriately.
In order to effectively control and manage water resources and increase agricultural productivity, the workshop recommends strengthening the irrigation capacities of farmers and other water users.
