The DDS ATL- Littoral hosted this celebration which was marked by a WASH MEDIA CAFE which is a press conference on the theme of the day "Better nutrition for better sanitation" hosted by the National Directorate of Public Health (DNSP) which is responsible for basic sanitation in the country and UNICEF as Technical and Financial Partner in the sanitation sector.
This celebration allowed media men / women (radio, print and television) have information on the national strategy about Open Air Defecation and the challenges to meet the needs of populations in basic sanitation works. It also helped to inform more the media on the link between sanitation and nutrition by bringing attention to the importance of toilets for improved nutrition and better health.
5th edition of the “WASH CAFE MEDIA” in Benin: Civil Society celebrates 2015 World Toilet Day (WTD)
Like all players in the WASH sector, the Consultation Framework of Non-state actors in the water sector and sanitation (Canea) celebrated World Toilet Day (WTD) on November 19, 2015 through financial support from WSSCC. It was an opportunity to mobilize all stakeholders for a public debate around the effectiveness of the END OPEN AIR defecation (ODF) for better health of the population.
