The aim is to help the six (6) member countries of the Volta Basin in the implementation of the principles of integrated flood management by identifying opportunities for a more resilient development and help them formulate “bankable” projects in connection with the theme.
The effective implementation of the activities of this initiative started on 9 November 2015 in five (5) countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Mali.
The next steps will concern mainly carrying out studies on the status of the management of floods in the country or ongoing initiatives and the evaluation of country needs about floods management.
