Major orientations in Accra

GWP West Africa held its 5th Assembly of Partners in Accra, Ghana on 7 May 2013. The meeting gathered more than forty (40) participants representing key water partners at regional and national levels from 10 countries in the region as well as basin organizations, intergovernmental bodies and private institutions. This statutory gathering helped to approve the various reports and work plan and budgets of the regional partnership and also to renew the organs. The WACDEP reports and Work plans for West Africa Region including country components for Burkina Faso and Ghana respectively were approved

The Steering Committee which met a day earlier (May 6) was renewed with three new members coming. In addition to the recruitment of a new Chair, the regional technical committee was also renewed with the coming in of a new member and the retirement of two old ones. The mandate of the Executive Secretary was expanded for two more additional years to allow bringing to a good end the self-governance process of the Secretariat.

 

The AP had working sessions of the new GWP 2014-2019 Strategy document in discussion to bring elements for the contribution of the region and the three years regional work plans in the frame of the new strategy.

 The AP presented vote of thanks and appreciation and noticeably to Aurelie Vitry who served as Network Officer for the region.
