IWRM monitoring in the ECOWAS

The Technical Committee of Experts (TCE) for IWRM monitoring within the ECOWAS was meeting for its 8th session from December 20 to 21, 2012 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. GWP / WA is a member of this Committee and was represented by the Executive Secretary, Dam MOBGANTE. This was an opportunity for the Executive Secretary to share with the participants (most of them having a link with the CWP and five were members of Alumni IWRM group) on the importance of developing joint initiatives with GWP/WA regarding relevant issues such as groundwater, IWRM Training curricula based on ToolBox, advocacy for the 1997 UN Watercourses Convention, WACDEP, SITWA, etc. The Executive Secretary provided participants with all information about these initiatives that must be known, encouraged and supported by both ECOWAS and the African Ministerial Council on Water (AMCOW).
