From 12-14 June 2019, GWPEA Regional Coordinator was invited and supported by SDG Center Africa to participate and contribute to the Conference on “SDGs implementation in Africa – reflections on a three-year journey” in Kigali, Rwanda.

In the spirit of building resilience to climate change, GWPEA conducted consultations with different stakeholders in the three catchments of Uganda (Aswa, Awoja, Maziba) where EURECCCA Project is being implemented

GWPEA participated in the second edition of the Uganda Water and Environment Week on 18-22 March 2019 in Entebbe, Uganda.

In March 2019, GWPEA continued with national consultation workshops with key stakeholders who will be involved in the implementation of the project titled “Strengthening Drought Resilience of Small Holder Farmers and Pastoralists in the IGAD region”- DRESS EA.

On 29-30 November 2018, GWPEA organized a media field visit for selected media outlets/practicing journalists drawn from seven media houses to explore further the aspects of drought risk management in Mubende, Uganda and develop stories to be aired in Uganda as well as potential case studies.

GWP recognizes the importance of engaging youth in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable economic development as the demand for natural resources, and particularly water increases. It strives to engage with young people, youth organizations, and young water professionals, and to empower them to become agents of change

The Global Water Partnership (GWP) together with the International Authority on Development (IGAD), the Water Hub, the Africa Network on Basin Organizations (ANBO), UNECE, Makerere University and other partners organized a regional training on Water Governance and International Water Law for Transboundary Water Management in Africa in Entebbe, Uganda from 25-27 June 2018

8 March marks International Women’s Day. The global theme for this year is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activities transforming women’s lives”. To celebrate this important day and highlight the theme, GWPEA interviewed Mrs. Sarah Mawerere, Environmental reporter and gender activist from Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC)and asked her the following question: Time is now for quality in water access and management! The African Development Bank(AfDB), in its capacity as the chair of the Regional Process Commission of the 8th World Water Forum, African Ministerial Council on Water (AMCOW) as overall Africa Regional Process Coordinator, and Global Water Partnership (GWP) as Africa Regional Process Technical Coordinator for the 8th World Water Forum convened a regional workshop in Entebbe , Uganda on 18-19th January 2018 to consult and validate the African report in preparation of the 8th World Water Forum to be held in Brasilia, Brazil, from 18th to 23rd March 2018
