The strategy was built on the African Union Gender Policy to ensure coherence and alignment with Africa’s highest level policy and decision making platform. The strategy is expected to provide a normative framework through which government, donor and civil society agencies can find a system for mainstreaming gender at all levels, and be able to compare achievements and challenges using the same set of indicators.
