Uganda will be hosting the regional celebrations for the second time, after Rwanda in 2007, Ethiopia in 2008, Burundi in 2009, Uganda in 2010, and the Republic Democratic of Congo in 2011. Ministers in charge of water affairs from the Nile Basin countries, members of parliaments, researchers, development partners, civil society, the private sector and the general public along with the media will be invited in Jinja, and local authorities in Entebbe.
Regional and national Nile Day celebrations
Regional Nile Day celebrations in 2012 will be held on the 19th and 20th of February this year. National celebrations will happen at the same time. The theme will be ‘Water, Energy, Food: Importance of Nile Cooperation’.
