GWPEAf is implementing the "Africa Water Investment Support Program to Water, Climate, Development and Gender" (AIP-WACDEP-G) programme in Uganda, focusing on the Maziba Catchment which encompasses the districts of Kabale, Rubanda and Rukiga
The program, which is being implemented by GWPEAf together with the Ministry of Water and Environment in Uganda , Uganda Water Partnership and funded by the Austrian Development Agency, aims at achieving Gender Equality through Climate Resilient Development of Water Infrastructure investments in Uganda. This program seeks to transform gender inequalities and systemic barriers in institutional structures, systems and policy , specific power imbalances, access to services, control of resources and assets at local level by promoting gender-transformative planning, decision-making and institutional development for climate resilient water investments and job creation.
The goal of the AIP-WACDEP-G is to ensure that the preparation, development, design, governance, and management of ongoing and new climate resilient water infrastructure investments, institutions and job creation interventions strategically advance gender equality. The overall objective is to transform gender inequalities at scale by promoting gender-transformative planning, decision-making and institutional development for climate resilient water investments and job creation in Africa.
