SDG 6 IWRM /SP in Ghana progress reported

The Water Resources Commission (WRC), in collaboration with the Country Water Partnership - Ghana (CWP-Ghana) is conducting a review of the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) plans for the Pra and Tano Basins.

This effort is part of the GWP support to WRC towards contributing to the achievement of the IWRM Action Plan for Ghana.

The WRC/CWP-Ghana team took steps to implement and coordinate the actions of the project with a meeting on 12th August 2021 to discuss the way forward. A key aspect of the process was to get the maps of the two basins updated. To this end, the WRC engaged the Centre for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Services (CERGIS) of the University of Ghana and discussions are ongoing.

The Covid-19 pandemic was a source of worry to the review process as some staff suffered the disease although no deaths were recorded.

This activity is carried out as part of the implementation of the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme.
