GWP-WA attends first HLPW in Johannesburg

GWP Southern Africa and the Government of South Africa have organized the first of the series of regional consultations on valuing water initiative in the framework of the High Level Panel on Water (HLPW).

The High Level Panel on Water (HLPW) is co-convened by United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and World Bank President Jim Kim, and charged with mobilizing action to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, many of which depend on managing water more effectively.

This first regional consultations held in Johannesburg brought together stakeholders from the region and ministers of the South Africa government, high level officers, World Bank advisor, SADC water expert and Dutch Ministry representative as panellists.

HLPWGWP West Africa was invited to attend in this event by GWPO in order to get inspiration for the regional consultation to hold in Dakar in mid-July. Sidi Coulibaly, communications and knowledge manager represented GWP West Africa
