2. Preparation towards WACDEP Outreach Activities in Ghana
In line with the outreach program under WACDEP, CWP-Ghana is making preparations to organise two key activities which will take place within the second quarter. The first activity will be with Journalism students from the Ghana Institute of Journalism in Accra involving a symposium and Competition on Water and other environmental issues. The second activity will take place in Tampizua in Bawku West with one of the trained journalists who participated in the Media Training Last year. These activities will go a long way in helping shape the WACDEP outreach drive towards helping capacitate more knowledgeable media practitioners with keen interest in climate change and water security issues.
3. Participation in the in Reference Group meeting for Wise-Up to Climate Project in Ghana
The CWP-Ghana was represented by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Maxwell Boateng-Gyimah in the Reference Group meeting for Wise-Up to Climate (Water Infrastructure Solutions from Ecosystem Services Underpinning Climate Resilient Policies and Programmes) on 10th March, 2015. The Wise-Up Climate intends to integrate nature-based solutions into built environment towards providing a comprehensive approach to climate resilience. This was organised by the Water Research Institute (WRI) of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in partnership with IUCN Global Water Programme based in Switzerland, The African Collaborative Center for Earth System Sciences (ACCESS)-University of Nairobi, the International Water Management Institute, the Overseas Development Institute in London, the University of Manchester and the Basque Center for Climate Change in Bilbao. The meeting was held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra. Participating in the meeting were about 25 persons with the purpose to create effective communication channels between civil society and the key-users of Wise-Up outputs, tools and knowledge.
